How to make a planter with pallets?

Today we will learn how to make a planter with wood recovered from pallets and avoid rotting wood with irrigation. A project with a spectacular result.

Necessary materials.

11 pallet strips of the size you want your planter to be.
Solvent
A pair of gloves.
You will also need some fungicide and insecticide treatment.
A brush
White glue.
Anti drip acrylic.
Protective.

Instructions.

Following these steps you can have a beautiful flowerpot, reusing pallets, and at the same time you will learn to treat the wood in a way that does not leave mold, or attack the insects.

Cut the material.

First you must disassemble the slats of the pallets with the jigsaw.
Then you must cut 6 strips of the length you want your planter.
Then you must cut 3 ribbons in half. To make the short sides of the flowerpot. Eliminate imperfections and cut them in the center.
Proceed to measure the long sides and make sure they are all the same length.
Once you have all the cut slats you must sand them with a wood sander.

Treat the wood.

This process is simple and will protect your planter from mold and insects.

Put on your gloves.

Put a little solvent in a sturdy plastic jar, it will not damage the wood. With the brush the solvent passes through all the slats.

Wait for them to dry perfectly.

Once dry, you should apply the fungicide treatment. For this purpose, place a little of the product in a container, then with the brush pass it through all the slats.

After drying, you must pass protector to the edges of each ribbon. Only to the songs so that later you can paint the flowerpot.

Assemble the planter.

Cut 4 battens 2.5 cm wide, along the length of the three ribbons on the side.

Sanding the slats that you just cut

Place the short ribbon to measure the space you need to place it. Draw a line and it is where you will open 5 holes to fix the 2.5 cm slats. You must open the holes along the 3 slats, leaving the same amount of separation between one and the other.

Proceed to screw the slats to the 3 long pallets.

Then place a little white glue, on the edge of the ribbons on the short side. place it in the space you left for it and screw it, you must do the same with each of the short slats.

The screws must go to the side so they do not touch the wood of the long slats and thus avoid breaking the wood.

Once assembled the box of your planter, proceeds to close the bottom with slats cut to the measure of the same, treated and painted with the projector by the edges.

Wait for them to dry and screw them to the bottom.

Then, paint the pot with two protective hands just outside and around the edges.

With a drill, it opens a hole the size of the drain pipe in the bottom. Place the drain tube with glue and cut the tube 2 cm outside the hole.

Place 2 slats as legs as you put the rest of them. They must be treated before screwing them to the bottom.

Then paint the pot inside with anti acrylic leaks. If the separations between the slats are too large, cover them with silicone before painting.

With just these steps you already have a beautiful pallet pot, treated and very practical.
